From the Commander

Our newsletter guru Sherry Tyrrell has offered to help us on the business side of the Legion. As a retired math teacher, we are deeply grateful she is willing to assist in our accounting practices.

The annual Cream Cheese Festival (Sep 21st) is our largest fundraiser of the year. We are in need of volunteers to cook, clean, assist with parking, BBQ and more. Call 376-3712 or stop by the post if you are willing to help.

NEW ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION: If you served on federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving you are eligible for membership in the American Legion. This literally took an act of Congress and the President’s signature.

If you know someone who was not eligible in the past, please ask them to join today. We would be honored to have them as a member!

ALL membership cards are in! Pick yours up this month and you can attend our Early Bird Dinner on November 16th! You can also “reenlist” online at www.americanlegionfamily.org

With the soldiers from Ft Drum leading the charge, we continue to work on the restoration of our historic building. We are turning a room on the second floor into a conference room that can be used for meetings of 20 or less. Walls are back to the original brick and the floor will be sanded down and restored. The new conference table was donated by our new restaurant equipment supplier, Restaurant Equipment Company New Hartford NY.
