From the Commander

Our Legion Family membership has surpassed 730 members. At this year’s State Convention Lewis County received all three of the Top Membership Awards which is an unprecedented accomplishment.

What a Cream Cheese Festival! We ran out of pork and chicken two hours before the event ended. Thank you to all the family members that made this event a success. Without your dedication, our participation would not be possible. All proceeds go into a family account controlled by the Sons, Aux, and Legionnaires. This is a Legion Family event.

The CAB (Combat Aviation Brigade) rocks. Over 60 Soldiers (many members of our post) helped our community during the Cream Cheese Festival. They helped with the children at the Discovery Park, set up tables throughout the Village, and helped cook and serve food. They also took down the American Flags throughout the Village for winter storage. Our soldiers will be deploying to Afghanistan over the next couple of months. Many who volunteered will be deploying only a week following the Festival.

On 8 October our Legion NYS Commander, Auxiliary President, and Son’s Commander will be visiting our Legion. Please support us in welcoming these dignitaries to Lewis County. Lunch will be served at 2PM. RSVP ASAP by calling 376-3712. Only $12 for jerked beef or pork with all the sides.

It’s time to mobilize our Legion Family. We will be collecting items to ship to our 10th Mountain Combat Aviation Brigade soldiers as they are sent back to Afghanistan. Help will also be needed to cover shipping cost. (No books please) More details to follow.

We are not a social club. We are a Veterans organization whose sole purpose is to take care of our veterans and support our community. Membership is right earned by your service or a family member. We are not a private club. We are the home of our veterans and their family
